Merry Christmas Fund Surpasses 5% of $50,000 Goal in Five Days

The 2025 Merry Christmas Fund has achieved a significant milestone, reaching over 5% of its $50,000 fundraising goal within just five days. The fund, managed by the Salvation Army Chester Corps, received its first out-of-state donations on December 6, 2023, marking a promising start to this year’s campaign.

Among the recent contributors are several individuals from Pennsylvania and South Carolina, who each made donations in memory of loved ones. Notably, John E. O’Brien from Aston contributed $150 in honor of his parents, June and Henry O’Brien. Other donations included $100 from Patricia Woznicki of Media, in memory of Sande and Pat Walton, and $100 from Lawrence Worrilow of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, dedicated to Thomas H. and Amelia Worrilow Sr.

The total amount raised as of today stands at $2,985.09, with $830.09 contributed just today. Additional donors included Krystina I. Masterson of Longs, South Carolina, who made a substantial donation of $250 in memory of Shirley Ostrander, and Bob Hughes from Swarthmore, who donated $100 with a simple holiday greeting. An anonymous donor from Aston added $30.09, also wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.

The Daily Times will provide regular updates on the amount of donations received and the names of contributors to the Merry Christmas Fund. Donors who wish to be recognized are encouraged to include a brief holiday message with their donations.

Contributions can be sent via checks or money orders to the following address:
