In a decisive display of skill and teamwork, the top-seeded Oak Knoll field hockey team successfully defended its Non-Public title with a commanding 5-0 victory over third-seeded Camden Catholic in the NJSIAA Non-Public final held in Bordentown, New Jersey, on November 15, 2023. This win marks Oak Knoll’s 14th overall state championship, solidifying its position as one of the premier programs in New Jersey history.
Entering the final with an impressive record of 18 consecutive victories, Oak Knoll showcased its balance and depth throughout the match. Right from the start, the Royals dominated the game, with Quinn Rosciano finding the net just 2:03 into the first quarter. Her early goal set the tone for what would become a relentless offensive effort.
Dominant Performance Leads to State Championship
Less than nine minutes later, Phoebe Laferriere doubled the lead, striking at 10:39 into the first quarter. The Royals maintained their momentum, with Rosciano scoring again at the 6:13 mark of the second quarter, followed by Lexi Cusimano who capped off a dominant first half with a goal in the final two minutes, giving Oak Knoll a commanding 4-0 lead at halftime.
The second half saw Laferriere add a final touch to the scoreboard, executing a clever move on a breakaway to secure the 5-0 victory in the fourth quarter. This final marked the sixth consecutive meeting between these two teams in the Non-Public final, and the first time a running clock was employed, underscoring Oak Knoll’s dominance in the match.
Oak Knoll’s victory is particularly notable as it continued its streak of appearances in the Non-Public finals since the game was added to the state schedule in 2013. With this championship win, they have now reached the state finals 13 times in total, further establishing their legacy in New Jersey field hockey.
