St. Elizabeth Community Hospital Supports 72 Seniors During Holidays

During the recent holiday season, Dignity Health North State announced a significant community outreach initiative from its facilities, including St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff. The hospital’s “Adopt a Senior” program successfully supported 72 seniors in need, ensuring they received gifts during a time when many might otherwise go without.

According to the local Dignity Health Connected Living website, the “Adopt a Senior” program aims to provide essential holiday gifts to local seniors who face financial hardships. This initiative reflects the hospital’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for vulnerable groups within the community.

Additional Community Support Initiatives

In addition to the senior support program, the hospital’s emergency department participated in the California Highway Patrol’s “Chips for Kids” toy drive, collecting toys for children in Tehama County. The hospital also gathered donations for the Corning School District, focusing on at-risk or homeless children and teens.

Moreover, the hospital’s quality team extended their outreach by “adopting” a single mother and her five children. They provided $800 in gift cards, new clothing, makeup, and toys to ensure the family experienced joy during the holiday season.

In December, following funding freezes to supplemental nutrition assistance programs, Dignity Health’s Connected Living program from Redding offered food support to approximately 800 individuals. This effort highlights the organization’s broader commitment to addressing food insecurity in the region.

Community Commitment and Impact

Rodger Page, North State Market President for Dignity Health, emphasized the importance of community involvement. “Supporting our local communities is at the heart of everything we do,” Page stated. “Our employees don’t just work here—they live here, raise their families here, and embody our mission of spreading humankindness every day.”

Page’s remarks reflect a deeper commitment among hospital staff to not only provide care at the bedside but also to actively engage in initiatives that uplift their communities. This dedication serves as an inspiration for ongoing outreach and support programs as Dignity Health looks to continue its efforts into the new year.

By actively participating in local giving projects, St. Elizabeth Community Hospital and Dignity Health North State reinforce their role as essential pillars of support in the community, ensuring that the spirit of giving extends beyond the holiday season.
