The theatre company confirmed that the staff member has been suspended as investigations by the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) progress. The allegations involve the employee allegedly filming cast members in a private changing room at the Stanley Theatre, located on Granville Street.
The investigation began in late August 2023, culminating in the arrest of a 33-year-old male employee on August 29. According to VPD Constable Tania Visintin, the suspect has been released from custody without charges at this time. Protective conditions are in place to prevent contact between the suspect and the alleged victims, as well as anyone associated with the Arts Club Theatre Company.
In a statement to 1130 NewsRadio, Arts Club Executive Director Peter Cathie-White emphasized the organization’s commitment to the safety and privacy of its employees and artists. He stated, “We are aware of an ongoing police investigation into serious allegations against an employee of our organization. The alleged actions, if true, are deeply troubling and run counter to everything that we stand for.”
