AMD Silo AI has announced a collaboration with Robotec.ai, a company specializing in simulation platforms for robotics applications. This partnership aims to optimize and scale digital twin and scenario reconstruction workloads for advanced automotive and robotics systems utilizing AMD Instinct GPUs alongside the ROCm software stack. By focusing on open-source and AI-driven digital twin simulation tools, both companies are working toward creating safe and human-friendly robotics solutions.
This collaboration builds on Robotec.ai‘s existing work with the AMD Kria System on Module (SOM). It integrates Robotec.ai’s flagship RoSi platform, an end-to-end tool for developing, training, and testing autonomous systems, with AMD’s scalable compute platforms. The RoSi Sensors, enhanced by the RGS ray-tracing library, provide optimized GPU performance specifically for LiDAR and radar simulations, which allows for rapid testing of intricate multi-sensor setups.
Open Source Innovation and Customer Empowerment
According to Michal Niezgoda, CEO and co-founder of Robotec.ai, “Open source empowers customers to evaluate technology on their own terms, inspect code for cybersecurity, and benefit from a community that validates and improves solutions.” He emphasized that reliance on proprietary solutions often limits flexibility, stating, “With proprietary solutions, you’re dependent on a single vendor’s roadmap and priorities.” The collaboration with AMD Silo AI aims to meet the increasing demand from customers while expanding the robotics ecosystem.
Both companies are committed to enhancing open-source solutions, which accelerates development cycles and opens pathways for academic partnerships and third-party contributions. Peter Sarlin, CEO and co-founder of AMD Silo AI, highlighted the significance of this partnership: “The collaboration with Robotec.ai underscores a shared commitment to open-source innovation. A commitment that empowers customers with digital sovereignty and seamless portability of GPU workloads, enabling safer, more efficient robotics systems across diverse hardware and environments.”
Building an Open Ecosystem for Robotics
The collaboration with Robotec.ai is part of AMD Silo AI’s broader strategy to develop an open ecosystem for autonomous systems and robotics. This initiative includes previously announced partnerships with other leaders in autonomous driving, robotics, and simulation. The goal is to merge cutting-edge software with advanced GPU infrastructure tailored for the robotics and autonomous industries.
In addition to these efforts, AMD is also working with Robotec.ai to evaluate the capabilities of the first fully autonomous warehouse robot. This robot utilizes agentic AI technology to dynamically plan and execute tasks in real time, without depending on hard-coded scripts. It operates exclusively on AMD Ryzen AI processors designed for embedded systems.
By leveraging its extensive experience in end-to-end compute solutions, which encompass safety-critical edge devices, digital twin platforms, and AI cloud infrastructure, AMD Silo AI is committed to broadening access to high-performance robotics simulation worldwide. The partnership with Robotec.ai is a strategic move to enhance the capabilities and safety of robotic applications, thus shaping the future of robotics in various sectors.
This collaboration exemplifies AMD’s commitment to innovation and its position as a leader in the technology sector, particularly in the realms of robotics and artificial intelligence.
