Remembering Gloria Ronnau: A Life of Love and Dedication

Gloria “Glo” Ronnau, a beloved matriarch and dedicated community member, passed away at the age of 104. Born in Los Angeles in 1921 to Henry and Bertha Becnel, she left behind a rich legacy of love, family, and faith. Gloria’s life was marked by her unwavering commitment to those around her, and she will be remembered for the warmth and stability she provided to her family and friends.

In her early years, Gloria attended Fremont High School and began her professional journey at the Owl Rexall headquarters, where she met her future husband, Don Ronnau. The couple built a life together, raising four children: Donny, who passed in 2023; Diane, who passed in 2022; Ann Sidler (married to Derald); and Carol Randolph. Gloria was not only a devoted mother but also a proud grandmother and great-grandmother, creating a nurturing environment that extended to her grandchildren, including Jennifer, Vincent, Chris, Tracy, Aidan, and Ben, as well as her great-grandchildren Jackson, Julianna, Jillian, Devin, and Tristan.

Gloria made San Pedro her home in 1962, becoming a significant part of the community. She dedicated 20 years to the Los Angeles Unified School District, where she worked at Banning High School and Dodson Middle School. Throughout her career, she was known for her kindness and commitment to education, impacting the lives of countless students.

A Life Defined by Faith and Generosity

Gloria’s life revolved around family, faith, and service. She created a welcoming home where loved ones felt cherished and supported. Described by many as a steady presence, she was a matriarch whose example shaped her family across generations. Her faith was evident in her humility and generosity, as she consistently showed up for others without seeking recognition.

Her values remained steadfast throughout her life, allowing her to witness a century of change while staying true to the principles that mattered most. Gloria was not defined by accolades or public praise, but by her unwavering devotion to family and faith. As she navigated life’s challenges, she inspired those around her through her actions and love.

Visitation and Funeral Arrangements

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during a visitation on Sunday, December 21, 2023, from 14:00 to 18:00 at Green Hills Memorial Park, where a recitation of the Rosary will take place at 16:00. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 22, 2023, at Holy Trinity Church at 10:00, followed by burial at Green Hills Memorial Park.
