The cheer programs at Cullman High School have marked a remarkable season with significant achievements, culminating in two state championships and a focus on national competition. The Junior Varsity and Varsity teams, split into Traditional and Gameday categories, have demonstrated exceptional talent and dedication throughout the year.
In the recent AHSAA State Championship, the Varsity Traditional team secured the title of 6A State Champions, while the JV Gameday team matched this success by also winning the 6A State Championship. These victories have established Cullman High School as a formidable competitor within Alabama’s cheerleading landscape.
The season kicked off at the Space Center Regional Competition, where all four teams showcased their skills. The Varsity Traditional team achieved a commendable second place, while Varsity Gameday and JV Gameday finished third. JV Traditional also earned a second-place finish, setting a positive tone for the rest of the season.
Success continued at the North Super Regional Competition, where the Varsity Traditional team claimed the title of 6A Super Regional Champions. The Varsity Gameday team followed closely in second place, while both JV Traditional and JV Gameday teams secured second and third places respectively, highlighting the program’s competitive prowess.
A standout moment occurred during the Magic City Regional, where Cullman Cheer achieved a clean sweep, with all four teams taking first place in their respective divisions. This accomplishment underscored the athletes’ hard work and commitment leading up to the postseason.
The regional schedule concluded at the Smoky Mountain Regional Competition, where Varsity Traditional, Varsity Gameday, and JV Traditional all secured first-place finishes. The JV Gameday team delivered a strong performance as well, finishing in second place.
Superintendent Kyle Kallhoff praised the teams, stating, “This season has been extraordinary, and each athlete has played an important part in building these accomplishments. We are proud of their commitment, their drive, and the way they represent Cullman Cheer and our school system.”
Looking ahead, the teams are set to compete at the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship in late January 2026. This prestigious event, held at the Walt Disney World Resort, is recognized as the pinnacle of high school cheerleading competitions across the United States. It provides an opportunity for teams to showcase their talents on a national stage.
Superintendent Kallhoff further acknowledged the coaching staff’s contributions, expressing gratitude for their dedication. “On behalf of the school administration and Board of Education, we are grateful to the coaches who work with our athletes before and after school—beginning with tryouts in late March and continuing all the way through nationals in late January. Thank you, coaches, for pushing our student-athletes hard and loving them just as much.”
As Cullman City Schools celebrates the achievements of its cheerleaders and coaches, the community looks forward to their performance at the national competition, wishing them success as they aim for further excellence.
