Louisville RB Isaac Brown Faces Injury After Victory Against VT

The Louisville Cardinals celebrated a significant 28-16 victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies, but the triumph may have come at a cost. Following the game, head coach Jeff Brohm announced that star running back Isaac Brown “might be out for a little while” due to a leg injury sustained late in the contest.

The injury occurred with just under six minutes remaining in the game. As Brown attempted to run out of bounds, he appeared to suffer a non-contact injury to his right leg. Although he managed to walk back to the Louisville sideline under his own power, his cautious movements indicated the severity of the situation.

Before exiting the game, Brown had an impressive performance, accumulating 126 rushing yards and scoring a touchdown. This marked his fifth 100-yard game of the season, contributing significantly to Louisville’s offensive efforts.

Brown, standing at 5-foot-9 and weighing 190 pounds, has faced challenges with injuries throughout the season. Despite these setbacks, he has played in all eight games, rushing for a total of 778 yards and five touchdowns on 91 carries. Additionally, he has caught 11 passes, averaging 4.2 yards. His remarkable average of 8.7 yards per carry ranks him as the best in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) among players with at least 50 rushing attempts this season.

A native of Homestead, Florida, Brown had a standout freshman year last season, participating in all 13 games and making nine starts, including the final eight. He finished the season with 1,173 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on 165 carries, alongside 30 receptions for 152 yards and a touchdown. His exceptional performance earned him multiple accolades, including Second-Team All-ACC honors, ACC Offensive and Overall Rookie of the Year, and recognition as a Freshman All-American by both PFF and 247Sports.

Looking ahead, the Louisville Cardinals are set to return to action on November 8, 2023, hosting the California Golden Bears at L&N Stadium. The kickoff is scheduled for 19:00 EST, and the team will aim to maintain their momentum in the absence of their key running back.

As the Cardinals navigate this potential setback, the focus will be on their ability to adapt and continue their successful season. Fans will be eagerly awaiting updates on Brown’s condition and the team’s performance in the upcoming matchup.
