Minnesota State Mankato Defeats Dragons 2-0 in Home Finale

The Minnesota State Moorhead Dragons faced a challenging match against the No. 2-ranked Minnesota State Mankato Mavericks, losing 2-0 in their home finale on October 29, 2023. The game, held at Nemzek Soccer Field, also marked Senior Day for the Dragons, who struggled against a formidable opponent that remains unbeaten this season.

The Mavericks took control early in the match, with Addison Clarey scoring the opening goal just nine minutes into play. The swift strike set the tone for the Mavericks, who continued to apply pressure throughout the game. Amara Smith later secured the victory with an insurance goal in the 72nd minute, cementing the Mavericks’ dominance on the field.

Statistically, the Mavericks outperformed the Dragons significantly, registering a total of 29 shots compared to 18 from Minnesota State Moorhead. The difference in accuracy was notable, as the Mavericks achieved 16 shots on target while the Dragons managed only five.
