UPDATE: The iconic 2025 Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree will be sourced from East Greenbush, New York, marking a significant moment for the local community. The 75-foot-tall Norway Spruce, with a diameter of 45 feet, was graciously donated by the Russ family and is estimated to be as old as its height.
The tree will be cut down on November 6 and will embark on a 140-mile journey to Rockefeller Center, where it will be raised on November 8. Residents are invited to RSVP for a special “Meet The Tree” celebration at Rockefeller Plaza, a family-friendly event that promises to kick off the holiday spirit.
This year’s lighting ceremony is set for Wednesday, December 3, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., broadcast live on NBC. The Russ family, who have cherished this tree for over 60 years, expressed their excitement, with Judy Russ stating, “We’re thrilled to create more wonderful memories as it becomes the world’s Christmas tree.”
In a dazzling display, the tree will be adorned with 50,000 LED bulbs and crowned by a stunning 900-pound, nine-foot-diameter Swarovski star. Head gardener Erik Pauze, who has been searching for the perfect trees for over 30 years, declared the Russ family’s donation “perfect” upon seeing its photograph.
The 92-year tradition not only beautifies the holiday season but also embodies a spirit of giving. Following the celebrations, the tree will be donated to Habitat for Humanity, where it will be transformed into beams to help construct homes across the country, often in its state of origin.
“This year’s tree is a reminder that love, light, and community can grow from the roots of family and history,” the Center’s Magazine staff stated.
