At Least 1 Killed, 9 Injured in Chicago Shootings Over the Weekend
BREAKING: A deadly weekend in Chicago has left at least one person dead and nine others injured in a series of shootings. The Chicago Police Department reports the incidents occurred between October 14 and 15, 2023, with victims aged 25 to 45.
The violence erupted on Friday evening with the first shooting reported at 6:23 p.m. in the 5500 block of South Lafayette Avenue. A 43-year-old woman was shot multiple times and remains in critical condition at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
The chaos continued into Saturday morning. At 2:23 a.m., a 25-year-old woman was shot in the right bicep while driving in the 100 block of East 57th Street, suffering serious injuries. Shortly after, at 2:38 a.m. in the 4400 block of West 16th Street, police discovered a man in a vehicle with critical gunshot wounds to the chest.
The violence escalated at 5:22 a.m. when occupants of a red Dodge Charger were ambushed by gunfire in the 4400 block of West Augusta Boulevard. A 37-year-old man succumbed to his injuries at Mt. Sinai Hospital, while a 29-year-old passenger remains in critical condition after being struck multiple times in the head.
Later in the day, at 3 p.m. in the 3100 block of South St. Louis Avenue, three men were shot in a parking lot. One victim, a 35-year-old man, was critically injured after being hit multiple times.
Authorities report that there have been no arrests made in connection with these shootings. The Chicago Police Department is actively investigating all incidents and urges anyone with information to come forward.
