BREAKING: Bethune-Cookman University (B-CU) confirms the inauguration of its eighth president, Albert Mosley, scheduled for April 14, 2024. This high-profile event marks a significant moment for the university, as Mosley steps into his role with a robust agenda focused on expanding opportunities for students.
Although Mosley has served as president since July, the formal investiture ceremony will take place at the Mary McLeod Bethune Performing Arts Center at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14. Doors will open at 9 a.m., but seating is limited, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early.
In a statement, President Mosley emphasized the university’s commitment to its founder’s legacy, stating, “Dr. Bethune built this university on faith, determination and an unshakable belief in the potential of her students.” He is launching a capital campaign titled “B-CU Rising: All of Us, All In” aimed at raising $1 million to assist students facing financial barriers to enrollment and degree completion.
The inauguration festivities kick off with a concert on April 12 at 4 p.m., featuring the B-CU Concert Chorale and the Symphonic Band. Fans should arrive early as doors will open at 3 p.m.
On April 13, Mosley will lead a day of service, mobilizing hundreds of volunteers to support approximately 50 nonprofits across Daytona Beach and Volusia County. This initiative underscores B-CU’s commitment to community engagement and service.
The celebrations will culminate with the Presidential Inaugural Scholarship Gala on April 13 at the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort. Attendees can look forward to a keynote address from Michael Lomax, President and CEO of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), and a performance by Grammy Award-winning artist Yolanda Adams.
Tickets and sponsorship opportunities for the gala are available on the university’s official website, and interest is expected to be high given the prestigious lineup of events.
This series of events not only marks a new chapter for B-CU but also reinforces the institution’s mission to create and sustain opportunities for future generations. Stay tuned for more updates as the inauguration date approaches!
