URGENT UPDATE: Brassfield Estate Winery has just announced the successful completion of its 2025 harvest, characterized by ideal grape conditions in Lake County’s High Valley AVA. The winery is celebrating this year’s vintage, which emerged from slightly cooler temperatures, allowing grapes to ripen evenly and resulting in exceptional wine quality.
Harvesting commenced just a few days later than usual, starting with Sauvignon Blanc from the estate’s High Serenity Ranch and wrapping up by mid-October with Cabernet Franc sourced from the valley floor. Notably, yields are up this year, averaging approximately four tons per acre across Brassfield’s 500 acres of vineyards.
According to Jonathan Walters, VP of Vineyard and Winemaking Operations, the standout variety for this vintage is Cabernet Sauvignon, which is already showing remarkable promise. “Cabernet is shaping up to be the quality leader of this harvest,” Walters stated. The cooler-than-average growing season has contributed to the wine’s elegant tannins and vibrant acidity, key factors in its exceptional quality.
Meanwhile, the Sauvignon Blanc has already fermented to dryness, with the winemaking team eager for bottling. Its bright aromas and balanced minerality reflect the purity achieved during this year’s ideal weather conditions.
The 2025 vintage exemplifies Brassfield Estate Winery’s dedication to crafting distinguished wines that honor both the land and the specific growing season. “The 2025 vintage is shaping up to be iconic,” said Chris Baker, President of Brassfield Estate Winery. Walters echoed this enthusiasm, emphasizing their excitement to share this year’s wines with consumers.
With vineyards positioned at elevations ranging from 1,800 to 3,000 feet, Brassfield is known for producing wines that showcase outstanding color and tannin. This harvest promises to yield wines marked by exceptional quality, depth, and distinction, capturing the essence of the High Valley’s high-elevation volcanic terroir.
As the winery prepares for bottling, wine enthusiasts are urged to stay tuned for further updates on this iconic vintage. The 2025 harvest not only marks a significant achievement for Brassfield Estate Winery but also highlights the unique potential of California’s Lake County region.
