Cattle Rancher Calls Trump ‘Delusional’ Over Beef Price Claims
UPDATE: In a shocking rebuttal, South Dakota cattle rancher Craig Bieber labeled former President Donald Trump “delusional” on MSNBC this morning, following Trump’s controversial comments regarding beef prices and tariffs. The heated exchange comes as ranchers face mounting pressures in the industry.
During a recent post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that cattle ranchers owe their recent financial success to his administration’s tariffs, including a staggering 50% tariff on cattle imports from Brazil. He stated, “If it weren’t for me, they would be doing just as they’ve done for the past 20 years — Terrible!”
In response, Bieber, who serves as vice president of the South Dakota Cattleman’s Beef Association, firmly rejected Trump’s assertions. “I think the president is delusional in the fact that he had anything to do with these markets,” Bieber declared. He emphasized that ranchers were already on a path to recovery due to years of drought that had previously eroded the cow herd, leading to a natural shortage of cattle.
Bieber further clarified that industry insiders were well aware of the impending market shift, stating, “Almost everybody in the industry that was self-aware knew this was coming.” He dismissed the notion that tariffs influenced current market conditions, insisting, “The tariffs didn’t have anything to do with where we were at from a market standpoint.”
As this story develops, many in the agricultural sector are watching closely. Ranchers are navigating challenges related to consumer prices and market stability, making it crucial for them to voice their concerns about political narratives affecting the industry.
This exchange highlights a growing divide between political rhetoric and the realities faced by those in agriculture. As ranchers work to stabilize their livelihoods, Trump’s comments are likely to ignite further discussions about the impact of tariffs and trade policies on American agriculture.
Stay tuned for more updates as this story unfolds, and watch for reactions from other industry leaders.
