URGENT UPDATE: The community of Santa Cruz is mourning the loss of Sally Cooper, aged 71, who passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy of love and commitment. Her family has announced that a funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, located at 435 Monterey Ave, Capitola.
Sally was born on November 4, 1953, in Long Beach, California, and moved to Santa Cruz at the age of nine. She spent her life dedicated to her family and community, marrying her high school sweetheart, Kevin Cooper. Together, they celebrated an incredible 54 years of marriage, a testament to their enduring love.
Known for her immense kindness and energy, Sally made a significant impact on countless lives through her years of coaching youth soccer and working with the Soquel School District. Her commitment to nurturing young minds and fostering community spirit will be remembered by everyone she touched.
Sally is survived by her husband, Kevin, her sons, Chris, Brian, and Jake, and her daughter, Amy. She also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Bradley, Troy, Logan, Kendall, and Kenzie. Additionally, her beloved cat, William, provided her with comfort and companionship throughout her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the SPCA in Sally’s memory, reflecting her love for animals and commitment to community service.
