BREAKING: The Breckenridge community is reeling from the unexpected passing of local favorite Peter Schwinn, who died peacefully on September 22, 2025. Known for his infectious laughter and charming personality, Pete was a beloved IT consultant at Summit Net Trekker and a lifelong skier who brought joy to everyone around him.

As a native of Colorado, Pete had called Breckenridge home for the last 13 years. He was not only an expert in technology but also a natural storyteller, often making friends wherever he went. His spontaneous humor and willingness to help others made him an unofficial ambassador of Breckenridge, earning him a significant place in the hearts of many.

Pete’s unique personality shone through in his cooking, with loved ones often teasing about their expanding waistlines due to his culinary delights. He leaves behind his parents, Bob and Sharman from Littleton, who fondly recall the many adventures and misadventures of raising him. His younger brother, Graham, is left with a treasure trove of hilarious memories and a few battle scars from their shared childhood. Additionally, his sister-in-law, Ashley, cherishes a freezer full of steaks and countless laughter-filled moments.

Pete was deeply loved as an uncle to Cooper, despite his self-proclaimed lack of babysitting qualifications. His partner, Meredith Graham, a fellow Colorado native, shared a profound bond with him, epitomizing their adventures together in the stunning backdrop of Breckenridge.

In a heartfelt message, Pete would want everyone to appreciate the beauty of their surroundings, laugh at unexpected moments, and remember to tip generously. As a tech-savvy professional, he humorously advised to “unplug it and plug it back in” before reaching out for IT support.

A memorial service will take place on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Cherry Hills Community Church in Highlands Ranch. Friends and family are also invited to gather for a celebration of Pete’s life on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Michael’s Italian Restaurant in Breckenridge.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Unsheltered in Summit at www.UnshelteredSummit.org. The family encourages everyone to share their favorite stories of Pete, who will be remembered as a vibrant storyteller and a cherished friend. Contributions can be sent to [email protected].

As the community mourns this sudden loss, tributes and memories continue to pour in, highlighting the profound impact Pete had on those around him.
