Coon Rapids City Hall Launches Urgent ‘Season of Giving’ Drive

UPDATE: Coon Rapids City Hall has just launched its vital ‘Season of Giving’ donation drive, inviting the community to contribute to local charities. As the holiday season approaches, residents are urged to donate essential items that will directly support families in need during this critical time.

The donation drive kicks off on November 24 and runs until December 15, with collection hours from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Donations can be dropped off at City Hall, located at 11155 Robinson Drive, where collection bins are conveniently placed in the front lobby.

Among the crucial items being collected are non-perishable foods, new toys, winter coats, and toiletries. Each category assists different partner charities that cater to specific community needs. For instance, the ACBC Food Shelf is urgently seeking high-demand items like flour, oil, and baby food. Meanwhile, Toys for Joy emphasizes the need for new, unwrapped gifts for children aged 12-18, including small electronics and gift cards.

Alexandra House calls for new or gently used winter coats and children’s boots, while Granny’s Closet is requesting various household and personal care items, such as men’s razors and laundry detergent. Additional drop-off locations have also been established at the Coon Rapids Ice Center, Bunker Hills Golf Club, and all Coon Rapids Fire Stations, where donations of toys and food are accepted.

This initiative is a chance for the community to come together and make a substantial impact on families facing hardships during the holidays. Each item donated not only brightens the season for recipients but also addresses everyday essentials that many take for granted.

Residents can find a comprehensive list of suggested donation items on the City of Coon Rapids website, but it’s important to act quickly. Every donation counts, and time is of the essence as the drive lasts only until mid-December.

Join your neighbors in making this holiday season a little brighter for those in need. Remember, your act of giving is a powerful contribution to building a stronger community.
