Gerald R. Cote, Former GE VP, Passes Away at 85 in Niskayuna

BREAKING: Gerald R. Cote, a prominent former Vice President of the General Electric Company, has passed away at the age of 85 in Niskayuna, NY. He died on November 12, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and dedication in the engineering sector.

Born on July 21, 1940, in Derry, NH, Cote graduated from Pinkerton High School before earning a degree in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His career at GE spanned over three decades, during which he held various management positions across the nation. He ultimately rose to the rank of Vice President, with significant assignments in Louisville, KY, and Schenectady, NY.

Cote was known not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his deep love for sports. An avid enthusiast, he played multiple sports in high school and continued his passion for athletics throughout his life. He cherished moments spent coaching and watching his late son, Brian, play baseball. Later, golf became his favorite pastime, where he enjoyed both competition and casual play with friends and family.

He married the love of his life, Sally, in July 1963. The couple shared many happy years together, raising two sons, Andrew and Christopher. Cote’s family also includes two great-grandchildren, Sunday and Archer, who brought him immense joy in his later years.

Tragically, he was predeceased by his wife Sally and son Brian. In lieu of a service, Cote’s family requests memorial contributions be made in his name to the Foundation for Ellis Hospital, located at 1101 Nott Street, Schenectady, NY 12308.

Gerald R. Cote’s passing is a significant loss felt by both his family and the community. His contributions to engineering and his passion for sports will be remembered by many.
