Nelson “Ozzie” King, Beloved Family Man, Passes Away at 87

BREAKING NEWS: Nelson “Ozzie” King, a cherished figure in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, has passed away peacefully at the age of 87. He died on January 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and community spirit.

Ozzie was born on September 21, 1938, and dedicated over 44 years to Bethlehem Steel, where he served as General Manager of Hazardous Waste and Vehicular Services. After his retirement, he continued to connect with people as a shuttle driver for Scott Cars for 14 years. His life was marked by an unwavering love for his family and friends, making him a beloved member of the community.

The family confirmed that Ozzie was a devoted sports fan, relishing moments spent cheering for the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, and enjoyed visits to the beach, casinos, and watching horse races and NASCAR. His faith was rooted in his membership at Trinity Episcopal Church in Bethlehem.

Ozzie is survived by his beloved wife of over 33 years, Sara Phillips King, along with his children, Rory J. King (Tammy), Tara King, Craig King (Carol), Lisa Sutphen, and Brad J. King. He leaves behind seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, as well as a sister, Kandy Waas, and two cherished dogs, Gunner and Winston. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, and beloved dogs.

A Funeral Service is scheduled for 11 A.M. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home located at 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018. Family and friends will have the opportunity to pay their respects starting at 9:30 A.M. before the service. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
