The duo purchased stock from Edward Messer, and thus, the Peirson legacy began in the historic Brown Block where Fenn Street meets North Street.
The store’s evolution continued when the site was acquired in 1863, leading to significant expansions. Over the years, Peirson Hardware has seen numerous changes in ownership and structure, including a pivotal moment in 1891 when Frank E. Peirson joined the family business, leading to the final name change to Peirson Hardware Company.
Currently occupying a massive 33,000 square feet, the store has been the sole occupant of its location since its inception, a true rarity in the retail landscape. The expansion from its original 2,400 square feet reflects not only the growth of the business but also the community’s trust in its offerings.
