Reckless Driver Crashes into Flock Safety Camera Pole in Ohio

UPDATE: A 59-year-old Beachwood man has been charged with reckless operation after crashing his 2022 Toyota Tundra into a Flock Safety camera pole on SOM Center Road in Hunting Valley, Ohio. The incident occurred at 12:20 p.m. on October 21, 2023, leaving the driver uninjured but causing significant damage to both the camera pole and his vehicle.

The driver was heading north on SOM Center Road when he veered off the right shoulder, colliding with the pole that supports the village-leased camera. Flock Safety cameras play a crucial role in law enforcement, automatically reading and recording license plate numbers to assist in ongoing investigations and check for any warrants.

While the crash did not require a tow, it raised questions about the driver’s speed at the time of the accident, with the posted limit being 40 mph. Authorities did not provide an estimated speed for the Tundra or any details regarding the driver’s insurance status at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation.
