Rocky Heights Middle School Welcomes Future Students for Tour

URGENT UPDATE: Rocky Heights Middle School (RHMS) Principal Chris Cooke just welcomed fifth-grade students from Timber Trail Elementary for an exciting tour aimed at easing their transition to middle school. The event, held earlier today, is designed to prepare students for the challenges of managing multiple classrooms and schedules, marking a significant milestone in their educational journey.

Transitioning from elementary school can be a mix of excitement and anxiety for young students. Today’s visit provided a firsthand experience of what life will be like as a sixth grader at RHMS. Principal Cooke emphasized the importance of these tours, stating, “The students are so ready to be in middle school. They have worked so hard to get to this point, and we wanted to bring them into our school, help them to get a feel for the hearts of the people here, and show them the exciting opportunities they will experience in this new environment.”

The school visit program is a strategic initiative by RHMS to foster a sense of belonging and confidence among incoming students. By walking the halls with current staff and students, fifth graders can ask questions and visualize their new academic setting, significantly alleviating the stress associated with the transition.

“The energy and enthusiasm from the students are palpable,” said Principal Cooke, highlighting the vibrant atmosphere during the tour. Students returned to their elementary schools buzzing with excitement as they prepared to embark on their journey as Nighthawks.

This initiative also includes students from Buffalo Ridge Elementary, showcasing the collaborative effort among feeder schools to create a seamless transition into middle school. Principal Robert Thelen of Timber Trail Elementary noted, “Experiences like this are a strong example of what makes the RCHS feeder pattern truly exceptional.”

As the school year approaches, these tours are set to become a key feature in helping students embrace their new roles at RHMS. Parents and educators alike are encouraged to share this positive development, ensuring that the community is aware of the supportive measures being implemented for the next generation of students.
