Staten Island vs. New Jersey Challenge Kicks Off Sunday at 11 AM

URGENT UPDATE: The highly anticipated 19th annual Coaches Choice USA Staten Island vs. New Jersey Challenge is set to begin this Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Moore Catholic High School in Graniteville. The event promises to showcase an exciting lineup of five games, kicking off at 11:00 AM.

This year’s challenge features a unique twist: the second game will spotlight two former Jaques Award-winning coaches. Sandy Litkenhaus, a celebrated coach and winner of the Jaques Award in the 1986-87 season, will lead the Staten Island Academy against Bound Brook under the guidance of Jen Derenjanik, one of only two three-time Jaques winners (1998-2000). Both coaches are alumni of the now-closed St. Peter’s Girls High School, adding a nostalgic touch to this thrilling matchup.

The full schedule for Sunday includes:
Tottenville vs. Spotswood at 11:00 AM
SIA vs. Bound Brook at 12:30 PM
Notre Dame Academy vs. Mount St. Mary at 2:05 PM
St. Joseph by-the-Sea vs. East Brunswick at 3:45 PM
Moore Catholic vs. Snyder at 5:20 PM

This annual event has been made possible through the efforts of former Islander and St. John Villa varsity coach James Martinos, ensuring the tradition continues to thrive and inspire young athletes.

As fans gear up for a day filled with competitive spirit and community pride, the atmosphere at Moore Catholic is expected to be electric. Don’t miss the chance to witness emerging talents and celebrated coaches in action this Sunday!
