Two Arrested for Dumpster Heist in Brook Park; Drunk Driving Incident Reported
UPDATE: Two men were arrested early this morning in Brook Park, Ohio, for stealing heaters from a Dumpster, with one facing additional charges for drug possession and having a suspended license. The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. on October 14 outside Fridrich Moving & Storage, located at 14800 Brookpark Road.
Witnesses alerted police after spotting the suspects rummaging through the Dumpster. Officers quickly responded and intercepted the pair in a Chevrolet Malibu as they tried to flee the scene. Upon questioning, they confessed to searching through the dumpster. The 44-year-old Cleveland man was discovered to be wanted on a criminal charge, and police found bags containing suspected heroin and amphetamines, along with two syringes and a rubber tourniquet in his clothing.
In a separate incident, a Parma man, aged 30, was arrested for public urination at 1 p.m. on October 9 in the parking lot of Brookgate Shopping Center, located at 5773 Smith Road. A witness pointed him out to the authorities just as he was zipping up his pants next to his vehicle.
In another case, a Garfield Heights woman, aged 25, was taken into custody at around 1:30 a.m. on October 14 outside Amber’s Cabaret on 13311 Brookpark Road. Police were called to manage a situation involving three women and a man attempting to enter the closed nightclub. The woman refused to identify herself and obstructed the investigation, leading to her arrest.
Additionally, police reported several thefts in the area, including a burglary at Park Place Apartments on October 7, where $800 in cash was stolen, and another incident at North Park Senior Living between September 28 and September 30, where items including a 45-inch TV and an antique loveseat were taken without signs of forced entry.
In a further incident, a 58-year-old homeless man was cited for giving a false identity to police while rummaging through parked cars outside Statewide Express at 5231 Engle Road around 5 a.m. on October 14. Authorities discovered his true identity through his appearance compared to his Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles photo.
Finally, a 50-year-old Middleburg Heights man was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence at about 2:30 a.m. on October 12. Police observed him recklessly peel out from a parking lot and run a red light. The vehicle emitted a strong smell of alcohol, and the driver admitted to consuming several drinks before failing sobriety tests.
These incidents reflect ongoing concerns about public safety and criminal activity in the Brook Park area. Authorities continue to monitor the situation and urge residents to report suspicious behavior immediately.
