URGENT UPDATE: U.S. Marshals have arrested Coleen Kuamo`o, a 43-year-old woman wanted for child rape in Hawaii, in Worcester, Massachusetts. Authorities confirmed the arrest occurred on Thursday after a multi-state manhunt.
Kuamo`o, also known as Malama Kuamo`o, faces serious charges in Hawaii, including one count of sexual assault in the first degree, three counts of sexual assault in the third degree, and one count of using a computer in the commission of a crime. She allegedly assaulted a child in Wailuku, Hawaii.
“Anyone who thinks they can flee across the country to avoid facing justice is mistaken,” said Kevin Neal, Acting U.S. Marshal for Massachusetts. “The U.S. Marshals Service is committed to ensuring fugitives face justice – no matter where they run.”
The apprehension followed a tip-off from the Maui Police Department to the U.S. Marshals in Massachusetts, indicating that Kuamo`o was potentially hiding in the Bay State. Marshals tracked her down swiftly, underscoring the agency’s dedication to pursuing fugitives relentlessly.
In related news, the Boston Police Department reported a significant surge in local incidents. Between 10 a.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to 299 incidents. These incidents included two robberies, six aggravated assaults, five thefts from vehicles, and two stolen cars.
Among the arrests made, several individuals were charged with serious offenses, including:
- Dominique Hines, 106 Heath St., Boston – felony possession of a firearm
- Luis Abreu-Shanlatte, 250 Margaretta Drive, Hyde Park – shoplifting over $100 by concealing
- Jailene Rentas, 145 Navarre St., Roslindale – operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The Boston Police Department continues to urge the community to report any suspicious activities as they work to maintain public safety.
This developing situation highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to collaborate across states to apprehend fugitives. The capture of Kuamo`o serves as a reminder of the relentless pursuit of justice for victims of crime.
