UPDATE: A serious crash occurred on Minnesota Highway 42 this morning, leaving a 27-year-old Rochester man injured. The collision took place around 9:30 a.m. near 75th Street Northeast in Viola Township when a 2019 Toyota Rav4 collided with a 2026 Freightliner box truck.
Authorities report that the driver of the Toyota was rushed to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys with non-life-threatening injuries. Notably, he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. In contrast, the 40-year-old driver of the box truck from Menomonie, Wisconsin, escaped uninjured.
The Minnesota State Patrol’s crash report indicates that wet road conditions contributed to this unfortunate incident. Emergency responders from multiple agencies, including the Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office, Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, Plainview Police Department, Elgin Fire Department, and Elgin Ambulance Service, promptly arrived at the scene to assist.
