UPDATE: A manhunt is underway for Luis Guerrero, a 36-year-old suspect charged with attempted murder and multiple firearm offenses following a dramatic freeway shooting in Livermore. The incident, which occurred on June 11, 2023, has escalated as authorities seek Guerrero, who was previously arrested but later released on bail.
The chaos unfolded at approximately 9:02 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 580, where Guerrero, driving a 2005 GMC Yukon SUV, allegedly engaged in a road rage altercation with a man driving a Tesla. Eyewitnesses report that Guerrero pulled alongside the Tesla and fired several shots at the driver, who fortunately escaped injury. The motive behind the altercation remains unclear.
Thanks to the quick actions of the victim, who managed to capture the license plate of Guerrero’s vehicle, law enforcement was alerted. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) promptly notified other agencies, leading to Guerrero’s arrest later that day. Officers located the Yukon around 11:25 a.m. in San Leandro, where Guerrero was taken into custody after resisting arrest and being tased.
Following the arrest, investigators discovered an unregistered .45 caliber pistol and shell casings inside the Yukon. Guerrero faced several charges, including shooting at an occupied motor vehicle and carrying a concealed firearm in public, on November 3.
Despite the serious charges, Guerrero made bail shortly after his initial arrest, and his current whereabouts are unknown. Authorities are urging anyone with information on his location to come forward immediately.
