Urgent Update: Virgil Wayne Whitwell Passes Away at 84

BREAKING NEWS: Virgil Wayne Whitwell, aged 84, of Bonne Terre, has passed away peacefully at Mercy South in St. Louis on October 19, 2025. This beloved family man leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will resonate with his family and friends.
Born on February 25, 1941, in St. Louis, Whitwell was known for his dedication to family, passion for classic cars, and a rewarding career with Teamsters Local #610. His work ethic and commitment to his profession highlighted his character, making him a respected figure in the community.
Whitwell’s warm heart extended to his beloved dogs, whose loyalty brought him great joy throughout his life. He is survived by five children: Vickie Ramsey and husband Rickie, Cheryl Mitchell and husband Dan, Betty Niccum and husband Jody, Michael Whitwell and wife Alicia, and Matthew Whitwell and wife Kristin. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, ensuring his spirit will continue through future generations.
The community is invited to pay their respects during the visitation at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge. The visitation will take place on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and will resume on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the service at 11:00 AM, officiated by Pastor Russell Dotson. Following the service, interment will be held at Bonne Terre Cemetery.
Virgil Wayne Whitwell’s kindness and the impact he made on those around him will be remembered fondly. As the community mourns the loss of this loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, the stories and memories shared will live on, celebrating a life well-lived.
