UPDATE: A serious accident in Jamestown has left one woman injured and transported to Jamestown Regional Medical Center following a collision involving a tanker truck. The incident occurred at approximately 11 a.m. on November 2, 2023, at 900 1st Ave. S, right in front of the former Hardee’s.
According to Lt. Nick Hardy of the Jamestown Police Department, the accident involved a tanker truck carrying unleaded gas and a pickup truck. Both vehicles were turning north onto First Avenue from Business Loop West when the male driver of the pickup reportedly overcorrected, resulting in a collision with the tanker. The impact dragged the pickup truck for a staggering 30 feet.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene swiftly, with the Jamestown Fire Department dispatched at 10:56 a.m.. A total of 14 firefighters, including a heavy rescue vehicle, worked urgently to free the female passenger, who sustained neck and back injuries. Firefighters had to cut the door off the pickup to safely extract her.
Lt. Hardy confirmed that the woman was subsequently transported by Jamestown Area Ambulance to JRMC for treatment. Remarkably, no other injuries were reported from this alarming incident. The Jamestown Fire Department cleared the scene by 11:35 a.m..
