Wilding Brands Acquires Upslope Brewing Co. in Major Deal

URGENT UPDATE: Wilding Brands has just announced a significant acquisition, absorbing Boulder’s Upslope Brewing Co. in a move that reshapes Colorado’s craft beverage landscape. This strategic deal, details of which remain undisclosed, signals Wilding’s commitment to expanding its portfolio in the thriving beverage market.

As a result of the acquisition, Upslope’s production will be relocated to Wilding’s state-of-the-art “Canworks” brewing facility in Denver. Eric Foster, CEO of Wilding, emphasized the importance of maintaining the unique qualities of the brands under its umbrella, stating, “Upslope is a perfect fit for our family of Colorado craft beverage companies.” This acquisition is part of Wilding’s broader strategy to create a diverse and high-quality craft beverage experience.

Upslope’s popular taprooms in Boulder and Silverthorne will remain operational, as they are not included in the acquisition and will continue to be managed by the previous owners. This ensures that the local community can still enjoy Upslope’s offerings while Wilding integrates the brewing operations.

Founded in 2024 through the merger of Stem Ciders, Denver Beer Co., and Funkwerks, Wilding Brands has quickly made its mark in the industry, acquiring Great Divide Brewing Co. and Station 26 Brewing Co. within just a few months. With the addition of Upslope, Wilding expects to produce 80,000 barrels across its brands, positioning itself as the second-largest independent craft brewery in Colorado, trailing only behind Fort Collins-based Odell Brewing Co., which produced over 98,000 barrels last year.

This acquisition not only enhances Wilding’s production capacity but also highlights the growing trend of consolidation within the craft beverage sector. As craft beer continues to gain popularity, companies like Wilding are looking to streamline operations while preserving the identity and quality of the brands they acquire.

With the craft beverage industry evolving rapidly, the focus now turns to how Wilding will innovate and expand its offerings post-acquisition. Consumers and industry insiders alike are eager to see how this merger will impact the Colorado craft beer scene.
