Willie Robertson Honors Late Father Phil in New ‘Duck Dynasty’ Season
UPDATE: Willie Robertson is set to keep his father’s legacy alive with the upcoming season of Duck Dynasty: The Revival, which is currently in production. This season will include a moving tribute to family patriarch Phil Robertson, who passed away earlier this year at the age of 79 after battling health issues, including Alzheimer’s disease.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News, Willie emphasized the deep significance surrounding the timing of his father’s death, stating, “I think it was such a pass-over, literally, because the show came out when Phil passed away… just within a few days of each other.” The emotional weight of filming without Phil has been profound for the Robertson family, but Willie is confident that his father would be proud of their efforts to uphold his legacy.
“It’s sad, but I think he’d be happy,” Willie shared. “He’d be happy that we kept it going — especially the way the show has faith as part of it.” The new season promises to delve deeper into themes of family and faith, moving beyond the laughter and hunting that defined previous seasons. Willie said, “I think right now — I think it’s important for the country to see a family, to see a healthy family and to see joy in the things that come out of our family.”
The Robertson family is committed to showcasing their values of faith and togetherness. Willie noted, “The anchor has been, really, the faith that goes back to our three things that we started ‘Duck Dynasty’ with, which were faith, family and ducks — in that order.”
Korie Robertson, who plays a pivotal role as matriarch while launching new business ventures, echoed her husband’s sentiments. She remarked, “We really kind of understood from the very beginning that this was something bigger than us. It wasn’t about you or me getting famous. It was about something bigger than us.” Family dinners and prayers remain central to their lives, reinforcing the bonds that have defined their journey.
All 10 episodes of Season 1 of Duck Dynasty: The Revival are currently streaming on Hulu, with the premiere date for Season 2 yet to be announced. As filming progresses, fans are encouraged to stay tuned for updates, as the Robertson family continues to navigate their new reality without Phil while cherishing his legacy and faith.
This season aims to resonate with audiences by highlighting the importance of strong family values during challenging times. “Maybe we can’t all live by each other. We can’t all sit together and have a prayer at the end of a meal. But we love seeing that. It helps encourage us,” Willie stated, reflecting on the show’s enduring impact.
