Graham Ike scored 22 points as the No. 11 Gonzaga Bulldogs secured an 80-59 victory over the San Francisco Dons on Wednesday night. This win marks Gonzaga’s 35th consecutive triumph against San Francisco, a streak that dates back to 2012. The game was held at the Chase Center, home of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors, and was notable as the final regular-season matchup between the two programs before Gonzaga transitions to the revamped Pac-12 Conference next season.
Ike, the leading scorer in the West Coast Conference (WCC), continues to impress, having reached at least 20 points in eight consecutive games. This achievement ties the school record set by former Gonzaga stars Adam Morrison and Derek Raivio in 2006. Despite struggling with his shooting for most of the game, Ike managed to score nine points in the final five minutes to maintain his streak.
Gonzaga’s success was supported by several other key players. Mario Saint-Supery contributed 14 points and six assists, while Emmanuel Innocenti added 12 points and eight rebounds. Jalen Warely also made his mark with 11 points.
Both teams experienced a slow start, with San Francisco missing 11 of its first 15 shots and committing seven turnovers in the opening ten minutes. Despite their struggles, the Dons managed to take a brief lead at 17-14 due to strong rebounding and defensive efforts. However, Gonzaga regained momentum late in the first half. Freshman guard Davis Fogle played a vital role, scoring five points, including an emphatic dunk that led to a three-point play, propelling Gonzaga to a 41-29 lead by halftime.
With this victory, Gonzaga improved its record to 26-2 overall and 14-1 in the WCC, maintaining a one-game lead in the league standings over Saint Mary’s and Santa Clara. In contrast, San Francisco fell to 15-14 overall and 7-9 in conference play, with Tyrone Riley IV leading the Dons with 16 points.
Looking ahead, Gonzaga is set to host Pacific on Saturday, while San Francisco will face off against Santa Clara the same day. As the season progresses, both teams will aim to solidify their standings in the conference and prepare for postseason play.
