A mass stabbing incident on a train in the UK has left 11 people injured, two of whom are in critical condition. The attack occurred on the evening of October 7, 2023, on a London North Eastern Railway (LNER) service traveling from Doncaster to London’s King’s Cross station.
Video footage from the scene shows police employing a Taser to subdue a suspect after he allegedly attacked passengers. The incident unfolded shortly after the train departed from Peterborough at approximately 19:30 local time. Police and emergency services received multiple calls reporting the stabbing, prompting the train to be halted at Huntingdon train station.
According to eyewitness Viorel Turturica, a 42-year-old taxi driver, he was at the station waiting for a passenger when chaos erupted. “I saw people running out of the station in a panic. Then, ten seconds later, a man dressed in black holding a huge kitchen knife ran past my car,” he recounted. Turturica captured the dramatic arrest on video, where the alleged attacker can be heard shouting, “kill me, kill me, kill me,” as armed officers surrounded him.
As police approached, Turturica noted the tension as officers shouted commands, including “Get him in a f–king hold!” and “Give me your hands now.” The sound of the Taser being activated is audible in the footage, followed by commands to drop the weapon. The video has since been shared widely, including with the Sun newspaper.
Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident, both facing charges of attempted murder. The authorities have not disclosed further details about the suspects or the motives behind the attack.
Emergency services quickly responded to the scene, with both police and ambulance units arriving shortly after the incident was reported. The wounded were treated on-site before being transported to local hospitals for further care.
The attack has drawn attention to security measures on public transport, as passengers expressed their shock and fear following the incident. Witnesses described a scene of panic, with many fleeing the train as the situation unfolded.
