URGENT UPDATE: Five individuals have been arrested following a brazen burglary at a West San Jose residence on Halloween morning. The incident, which took place around 10:15 a.m., involved suspects breaking into a garage and stealing various items, according to San Jose police spokesperson Stacie Shih.
Witnesses reported seeing two people forcibly enter the garage, prompting immediate police action. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle but were quickly tracked down using automated license plate reader cameras, showcasing the effectiveness of modern policing tools.
Officers intercepted the vehicle outside a residence on the 100 block of Muirfield Drive. A subsequent search revealed a stolen rifle, a privately made handgun, and numerous items connected to the burglary. Additionally, evidence related to other burglaries was also discovered, highlighting a potential crime spree in the area.
Three of the suspects, identified as a 55-year-old man, a 41-year-old woman, and a 32-year-old woman, all from San Jose, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and booked into Santa Clara County Jail. In a significant twist, two residents of the Muirfield Drive home, a 44-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, were also apprehended for possession of stolen property and firearm-related offenses.
