A 76-year-old West Virginia man was rescued after being trapped under an overturned four-wheeler for nearly five hours in rugged terrain along the Mason-Putnam County line, authorities confirm.
The Mason County Sheriff’s Office credits the successful rescue to K-9 Deputy Chris Connor and his trained partner, 2-year-old Chica, who tracked the victim’s trail through tough brush and uneven ground with remarkable precision.
“When we started tracking, her nose never came up. She was down on the trail,” Connor told reporters. “She is such a good girl.” Connor revealed he turned to prayer during the tense search, even writing the victim’s name on his arm and asking for guidance. Moments later, after hearing a voice calling back, responders zeroed in on the man’s location.
