Greeley Veterans Day Ceremony Set for 11 AM on Tuesday

URGENT UPDATE: The Weld County Veterans Memorial in Greeley, Colorado is preparing to host a significant Veterans Day ceremony on November 11, 2023, starting at 11 AM. This event promises to honor those who have served in the military and is open to the public.

Master Gunnery Sergeant Brian Ivers, a distinguished veteran with five combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, will deliver a keynote address. The ceremony will feature a presentation of colors by the Northridge High School Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, along with a stirring rendition of the national anthem by Isamar Chavira. The Greeley Central High School band will provide musical accompaniment throughout the ceremony.

The program will be led by Shawn Harmer, a member of the Weld County Veterans Memorial Committee, ensuring a respectful and memorable event.

Harmer stated. The invocation and benediction will be delivered by Pastor John Musil of Living Grace Baptist Church.

A highlight of the event will be the Union Colony Marine Corps League 1093, performing a traditional rifle salute and playing taps, emphasizing the solemnity of the occasion. Following the ceremony, the Greeley VFW Post and Auxiliary 2121 will host a free soup luncheon for veterans and their families from 12:30 PM to 2 PM at 2514 7th Ave, providing an opportunity for community connection and gratitude.

The Weld County Veterans Memorial Association, which oversees maintenance and repairs of the memorial, encourages donations to support its efforts. Contributions can be sent to PO Box 1016, Greeley, CO 80632, and annual memberships are available for $25 per person.
