New Minowa Players Celebrates 50 Years with Gala on March 7

The New Minowa Players (NMP) will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a gala event on March 7, 2024, at the Peace Dining Room in Luther College, Decorah. This milestone event will take place from 18:30 to 22:00 and aims to honor the organization’s rich history while looking forward to its future in the performing arts.

Since its inception, the New Minowa Players has become a vital part of the community in Decorah, delivering outstanding live theatre that captivates audiences across the region. The gala will offer an opportunity for long-time supporters, performers, directors, and newcomers to gather in a festive atmosphere filled with nostalgia and celebration.

Organizers have planned an engaging program that will reflect on the last five decades of storytelling through music and memories. Attendees can look forward to several highlights throughout the evening, including:

  • A program featuring musical performances and recollections that celebrate the organization’s history
  • A silent auction showcasing unique art pieces and memorable experiences
  • A fun selfie station with props designed for theatre enthusiasts
  • A display of costumes from past performances
  • Hearty appetizers, desserts, and a cash bar

This gala serves a dual purpose as both a celebration and a fundraiser. Proceeds from the event will support the New Minowa Players’ ongoing efforts to provide high-quality productions, educational opportunities, and community engagement for years to come. Tickets are priced at $25 per person and can be purchased through the NMP website at www.newminowaplayers.org/tickets or at the Oneota Co-op in downtown Decorah.

As the organization reflects on its legacy of applause, laughter, and commitment to the arts, it invites everyone to join in this meaningful evening of celebration and inspiration. The New Minowa Players has demonstrated that while they honor the past, the show is far from over, and the community’s support will ensure a vibrant future for local theatre.
