The New Minowa Players (NMP) will mark its 50th anniversary with a celebratory gala at the Peace Dining Room at Luther College in Decorah on March 7, 2024. The event, scheduled from 18:30 to 22:00, aims to honor the past while looking forward to the future of this beloved community theatre.
Founded by a group of passionate theatre enthusiasts, NMP has become a cornerstone of the performing arts in the region, providing high-quality live theatre that has entertained audiences for decades. The gala will bring together long-time supporters, performers, directors, and newcomers for an evening filled with nostalgia and celebration.
Organizers have planned a diverse program for the event. Guests can look forward to a musical tribute celebrating five decades of storytelling on stage, allowing attendees to reminisce about memorable productions. Additionally, a silent auction featuring artwork and unique experiences will be a highlight, offering guests the chance to support NMP while acquiring one-of-a-kind items.
The gala will also include a fun selfie station with props for theatre lovers, a display of costumes used in past productions, and an array of hearty appetizers and desserts, complemented by a cash bar.
This event serves a dual purpose as both a celebration and a fundraiser. Proceeds from the gala will support NMP’s ongoing mission to provide productions, educational opportunities, and community engagement initiatives for years to come.
Tickets for the event are priced at $25 per person and can be purchased at www.newminowaplayers.org/tickets or at Oneota Co-op in downtown Decorah.
As the organization reflects on its rich history of applause and laughter, the message is clear: the show is far from over. The gala promises to be a meaningful evening, bringing together a community that has cherished the art of theatre for half a century.
