At approximately 9:34 p.m., a man was struck while walking in front of 761 Middle Country Road by a westbound 2008 Mercedes Benz ML350 driven by Clarissa Macioce, a 50-year-old resident of St. James.
The victim, whose name has been withheld pending family notification, was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Macioce was not injured in the incident. Police impounded the vehicle for a comprehensive safety inspection as the investigation continues.
