UPDATE: The Windsor Wizards have secured their place in the state finals after a thrilling 21-14 victory over Holy Family in the Class 3A state tournament semifinals, held on Saturday afternoon at H.J. Dudley Field. With this win, the Wizards improve to an impressive 13-0 as they prepare to face second-seeded Pomona (12-1) on December 6, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins.
This victory was anything but straightforward. Despite their unbeaten record, Windsor faced significant challenges, including uncharacteristic mistakes that put their championship hopes in jeopardy. The game shifted dramatically in the third quarter when Holy Family’s sophomore quarterback Kaden Hopkin connected with receiver Nick Leopardi for a 31-yard touchdown, taking a 14-7 lead with just over four minutes left in the third quarter.
However, the Wizards showed resilience. After a rare fumble by star senior running back Adrian Czyszczon, Windsor’s defense stepped up. Senior linebacker Isaiah Cronk intercepted a key pass, regaining momentum for Windsor as he returned it to the Holy Family 37-yard line.
With the clock ticking and the pressure mounting, Windsor faced a daunting 4th-and-25 following a personal foul. A roughing the kicker penalty against Holy Family provided a critical lifeline. The Wizards seized the opportunity, orchestrating a swift 52-yard drive that culminated in a 17-yard touchdown run by quarterback Mason Moore, tying the game at 14-14 with 10:05 remaining.
With their defense stifling Holy Family’s attempts to regain the lead, Windsor took control again on the Tigers’ 46-yard line. Czyszczon redeemed himself, carrying the ball five consecutive times before powering through the line for a one-yard touchdown, putting the Wizards ahead 21-14 with 7:04 left on the clock.
Windsor’s defense held strong, forcing a turnover on downs near midfield with just under four minutes remaining. The Wizards’ offensive line then executed a deliberate run game to drain the clock, solidifying their spot in the state championship.
As the Wizards celebrate this hard-fought victory, fans and players alike are now turning their attention to the upcoming championship game against Pomona. With the prospect of claiming their fifth title in program history on the line, Windsor is poised for an exciting showdown.
