Israel Drops 2,000 Bombs on Iran in Two Days Amid Escalation

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on Sunday that it has launched an intensive bombing campaign against Iran, dropping 2,000 bombs in a span of just two days as part of Operation Roaring Lion, which commenced on Saturday morning. This rapid pace of airstrikes is described by military sources as comparable to the bombing intensity experienced during the six-day Operation Rising Lion in June 2025.

The IDF expressed disappointment over Iran’s ability to quickly rebuild its missile arsenal. After successfully reducing Iran’s missile stockpile from approximately 3,000 to around 1,300 over the course of eight months, the IDF noted that Tehran has increased its missile count back to 2,500. Additionally, Israel is troubled by the swift replacement of roughly 200 missile launchers that were destroyed during previous operations.

Objectives of the Airstrikes

The primary aim of the current operation is to conduct a comprehensive attack on all facets of Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities. Air force officials stated that the focus extends beyond targeting central missile production facilities. The goal includes disrupting the supply of essential raw materials needed for missile development. By doing so, Israel hopes to significantly hinder Iran’s capacity to regenerate its ballistic missile threats in the long term.

Despite facing some losses, particularly among drones due to Iranian air defenses, IDF representatives emphasized that these setbacks are relatively minor. They assured that such losses have not affected the overall intensity and rapidity of the ongoing bombing campaign.

As tensions continue to escalate in the region, the ramifications of this military operation may have significant implications for both Israel and Iran. The IDF’s commitment to neutralizing Iran’s missile capabilities could lead to further confrontations as both nations navigate this complex and volatile landscape.
